Recycling
Rules
The right practices for the blue bin.
The blue bin rules
- Place recyclables loose in the blue bin. Not in tied bags.
- Packaging placed in the recycling bin should be empty. No need to wash it with soap! If required, wipe it lightly and simply make sure it is free of residue.
- Avoid placing soiled boxes (e.g. pizza or pastry boxes) in the blue bin.
- Fold recyclables that take up a lot of space in the blue bin (e.g. cardboard boxes).
- Not everything plastic belongs in the recycling bin! Blue bins accept plastic packaging only.
- We recycle glass packaging, even if broken or if it breaks when dropped into the blue bin. But not window panes or mirrors.
- We recycle gas canisters, sprays and other pressurised containers, as long as they are completely empty. It is a myth that they may explode, since they are not subjected to pressure during collection.
- Metal or plastic hangers should not normally go into the blue bin, as they are not considered packaging materials.
- We do not recycle photographs. As for paper, recycle A4-sized pieces rather than small ones. Prefer bins marked “Paper Recycling”.
